Kolter (formerly Djoko), an artist popular for his unique blend of house, breaks, and techno, has become one of the most exciting producers in electronic music. With releases on top labels like Hot Creations, No Art, and PIV Records, he's quickly made a name for himself as a producer to watch. Where educational resources are often lacking on artists like himself, luckily for aspiring producers, he has been generous enough to share his production insights through a series of tutorials online. Before his name changed, Kolter was the more experimental side of Djoko. Many of his tracks on this alias are more breakbeat, non 4-4 orientated with a greater attitude to sampling outside the usual house & techno spectrum he normally operates within. This one takes a similar format to above, but with more focus on his Kolter alias (pre-name change).

There is a page called MusicFromTheSource which compiles a range of music production tips, tricks & tutorials from artists in the scene. I highly recommend checking out the other tips on this page, however, one of my personal favourites comes from Kolter. This short tutorial covers a cool trick you can use to add depth to your basslines using a vocoder as well as a plugin that can be used to create glitchy hits.

Finally, we have this older "Track From Scratch" tutorial which shows him creating the foundations for a full loop from scratch. This one gives a nice introduction to the process of creating a basic beat and includes some useful tricks from his process that help him to carve out his own signature sound.
